Learning to Accept Today

Self control sucks, why is it we want the things we want so bad? Yet we get mad at ourselves the moment we have at it.

Some people go their whole lives caught up in addictive behaviour, their whole lives with intentions to quit but never really taking action.

Life and its moments will never be perfect we need to begin today. We need to see today in a new light, free of attachment and desire. Free of the thought “I need _____ to be happy” (fill the blank with whatever it is you abuse)

We all have certain behaviors we wish we could quit; to bad it’s not that easy.

Most of us are conditioned by our environments; it’s easier to accept what is rather than fighting against the current. Whether deliberate or not, subconsciously we adapt to our surroundings making them our reality.

Peer pressure is impossible to overcome if you constantly are bombarded by people you consider influencers. These influencers appear to have it all going for them on the surface yet on the other side of the coin they don’t realize the harm they’re inflicting on themselves in the long-term.

Everyone wants to be happy. You see it everywhere, advertising messages of happiness; it’s what’s being sold. Don’t let anyone sell you on the idea of happiness it’s nothing you can buy or consume.

Happiness comes from taking part in the journey of life, its heart-aches, its ups, downs and everything in between. It’s all a lesson.

The lesson is to become one with suffering and to accept your life as it is. We can’t change the past or future all we can do is act within the very moment we’re given.

Act in the moment, don’t grieve any longer. Don’t let self-sabotaging behaviour control the direction of your life. It’s never to late to start again. It’s never to late to reinvent yourself and change the course of your life.

Start today, start with the intentions to make today better than yesterday. Make everyday better than the last and complete everything you start. Don’t live with resentment of “I didn’t do this” or “I didn’t do that”.

Prioritize with the future in mind, start taking action against anything that’s eating you away. Start scheduling time to do the things that actually matter and following through with your word to do them.

Capitalize on your strengths and refuse to neglect your weaknesses, choose to participate in the journey of life. Choose to grow and develop yourself into something. Build the strongest version of yourself.

Find your grit; find your purpose for starting and don’t let anyone convince you it’s not worthy. Make a mission statement, write it down, and make sure you see it everyday. Use it to remind yourself in remembering the reason you put forth the effort you do. Let it be a symbol of your journey, a reflection of the transformations that are and will be.

Path of Least Resistance

hard road

It’s so easy to get inside your head and convince yourself not to do something. Its so easy to let fear control us. Its so easy to begin something and then to just put it down. It’s easy to give up when things get tough. But what’s easy isn’t always what’s right.

More often then not we opt to take the path of least resistance. Its just so much easier to be free of criticism or judgement from others. A lot of us battle ourselves everyday, the last thing we want to do is rub people the wrong way and create more conflict. As a means of avoiding conflict and failure its easier just to ignore the possibilities of what could be. It’s easier for us to hold onto our pent up emotions and accept what is rather than going against the current.

Conditioned by our thoughts of conformity we begin to believe the limitations of our parents, peers and authority. We begin to feel content with our environment and accept it as the true reality. We learn to live with our problems rather than to learning to adapt to inevitable changes.

Rather than enjoying the fruits of our labour we are frozen by action left to contemplate and rationalize every possible excuse as to why we failed. Remaining frozen in action living with sadness and anger we allow our failure to define us depleting us of all available resources. Living with this depletion of resources we remain in an unstable environment that lacks structure, support and personal growth.

Struggling to be happy we remain stagnate and actually begin show signs of physical and mental decline. We begin to lose our purpose and reshuffle our priorities. We begin to see life through a short lens living as if we were to die tomorrow.

Greed and immediate gratification become all so important. Being that we are unhappy and discontent with our environment we turn to selfish behaviour that promotes dopamine production. Ideally the thought is “I’d rather be happy” but this is such a short-sighted statement. In the long-run feeding our senses becomes toxic and poisonous to the individual. Immediate gratification becomes self-sabotage and this quickly becomes a deeply engrained pattern.

We begin to forget about our dreams and lose faith altogether. We lose purpose and our reasons for being. We begin thinking “is this really all that life is”. Unable to feel true happiness due to the fact the pleasure centers of the brain have been overloaded day in and day out we begin to feel hopeless and burnt out.

Life’s tough but it’s time to grab the bull by the horns. If you don’t begin to start taking action fear will guide you down a dark path. Don’t let fear back you into a corner you can’t get out of.

Take control of your life. Take control of your health. Take control of your finances. Your problems will begin a snowball effect if you choose to neglect them. Refuse to turn the other cheek, stay on top of monitoring your progress.

Stretch your comfort zones and get comfortable doing so. Remember, a house cat is not your spirit animal, your spirit animal is fierce, intimidating and never backs down.

The path of least resistance is an emotional unstable journey which guarantees jealousy and resentment. How far down does the rabbit hole go? I’m not going to participate to find out and you shouldn’t either. Escape the darkness, climb into the light.
